The Quiet Power of Anticipation
The 3-Minute Anticipation Reset (Try this today)
A Note From Dr. Lycka
Hello friend,
As the days cool, life invites us to prepare. Not to brace—but to look forward. In my work (and in my own life), I’ve learned that what we anticipate shapes how we experience everything in front of us. October is perfect for this: we move a little slower, we gather a little closer, and we practice finding warmth before the snow arrives.
Today’s Golden Pearl is Anticipation—the art of welcoming what’s ahead with joy, curiosity, and trust.
Real-Life Activation (3 small moves)
Name your North Star (1 sentence)
Write: “Over the next 30 days, I’m looking forward to…” Keep it short, real, and energizing.Seed the Future (5 minutes)
Do one tiny step that proves you mean it: send the email, block the hour, lay out the shoes, pre-chop the veggies, book the class.Talk to Tomorrow - You (30 seconds)
Out loud: “Tomorrow, I’ll be grateful I started this today.” It sounds simple - because it is. And it works.
The 3-Minute Anticipation Reset
Minute 1 - Breathe & Clear: Inhale through the nose 4 counts, exhale 6 counts. Repeat 5 times.
Minute 2 - Choose One Good Thing: What’s one event, person, or moment you’d genuinely like to meet tomorrow? Visualize it clearly for 30 seconds; then write one sentence about why it matters.
Minute 3 - Make It Easier: Do one micro-action now (set and alarm, put the book by the kettle, draft the first line of the message). Momentum beats motivation.
Do this once a week, watch your inner weather change.
Community Note
If this resonated, forward it to one person who could use a warmer October. Your share might change their week.
Closing
October reminds us that warmth is an inside job. Anticipation is how we light the first candle. Not because life is perfect, but because we can become more prepared, more open, more alive to the good that’s on the way.
To your fantastic life,
Dr. Allen Lycka
